United We Rise: A Bold Display Font That Elevates Your Brand

It started with a sticky note on my laptop: “Menu needs to feel like us — energetic, warm, and unmistakably *ours*.” I run a small neighborhood café, and after three years of hand-drawn chalkboard specials and mismatched printouts, it was time. Not just for new fonts — but for the right font. One that didn’t just say “coffee” or “croissant,” but said “come in, stay awhile, you belong here.” That’s when I found United We Rise.

United We Rise is a display font — not the kind you’d use for paragraphs or ingredient lists, but the kind that grabs attention in under two seconds. It’s bold, confident, and full of motion — like a sprinter mid-stride or a bike leaning into a turn. There’s energy in every curve and sharpness in every angle. It doesn’t whisper. It leans in, makes eye contact, and says, “Let’s go.” That’s why it works so well for anything tied to speed, sport, spirit — or simply the joy of showing up fully as a small business.

In my café, I used United We Rise for our new laminated menu boards, the header on our weekly newsletter, and even the “Open Daily” sign taped to the front door. It wasn’t about shouting louder — it was about sounding more like us. Before, our branding felt like a collection of good ideas. With United We Rise, it began to feel like a single voice.

What surprised me most? How versatile it is across real-world touchpoints. I applied it to:

Typography isn’t just decoration — it’s your brand’s first handshake. Customers don’t read your font; they feel it before they even process the words. United We Rise brings assertiveness and friendliness in equal measure — no cold sterility, no cutesy hesitation. That balance builds trust fast, especially when you’re competing for attention in crowded spaces like farmers’ market stalls, Etsy listings, or local Instagram feeds.

Here’s what I learned about using it well:

  1. Reserve it for impact — Use United We Rise for headlines, logo lockups, packaging titles, and short phrases. Avoid long blocks or tiny label text (under 14pt on packaging can lose clarity).
  2. Pair it thoughtfully — I matched it with a friendly, airy sans serif (like Montserrat or Inter) for body copy and details. For a candle seller friend, she layered it over a soft serif for her “Hand-Poured Soy Wax” tagline — elegant contrast, zero visual noise.
  3. Check the files before you commit — United We Rise comes with OpenType features, including alternates and ligatures. I tested the “RISE” ligature on our takeaway cup sleeve — subtle, but it made the word feel intentional, not accidental.
  4. Verify licensing — Since we sell physical products (bags, mugs, merch), I double-checked the commercial license covers printed goods and digital templates. It does — and that peace of mind matters.

Small businesses don’t have big design teams — but we do have big intentions. United We Rise helps translate those intentions into visuals that land. Whether you’re labeling handmade soap, designing a boutique clothing tag, refreshing your coaching brand’s webinar slides, or building an online shop banner, this display font adds polish without pretension.

And yes — it looks incredible on mockups. I tested it on a few Canva product templates (a candle jar, a skincare box, a tote bag), and each time, the font anchored the whole design. No extra shadows, no gradients needed. Just confidence, clarity, and character.

One last thing: don’t overthink pairing. If you love clean lines, go modern sans serif. If your brand leans classic, try a refined serif. If you want warmth, pair it with a gentle handwritten font — just keep the handwritten element small and secondary. United We Rise is the anchor. Let everything else support it.

Typography won’t replace great coffee, thoughtful skincare, or well-crafted candles — but it does help people notice them faster, remember them longer, and feel more connected to the person behind them. That’s why choosing United We Rise wasn’t just a design decision. It was a declaration — one I’m proud to make, every time I see it on a menu, a label, or a thank-you card.
